PROJECT 3 - MY ROBOT GADGET
INTRODUCTION
This is an individual assignment that requires each student to make a gadget that works manually without any electrical power support or battery.
The gadget must make 3 manually actions or tasks. Students are encouraged to use used items or cheap items that costs not much than RM 100.
THE PROCESS
The gadgets need to suit our robot characteristics and this assignment is actually a continuing assignment from project 2. The superpower for my robot is positive light, hence, I need to figure out ways to make it happen.
I did a few research on methods to make the words light up. The ink mixed with glow paint, use the highlighter pen ink and more. Finally, I chose to use glow-in-the-dark paint.
The brush I innovate it together with a type of vegetable gripper that enable me to write three words at a time and change brush colour as I wish. Green is for neutral word, light orange for positive words and black ink for negative words.
For the mechanically movement I innovate the kitchen utensils, hot pot holder to make my upper board turn, I took a lot of time to make it turn smoothly. There is also a "door locker" to hold the upper board from turning and once I press the top left part, the board will turn and bringing the container to drop down together.
Hence, this is the three mechanism that involve in my gadget.
THE PRESENTATION DAY
On the presentation day, my robot gadget - posigraphy managed to function well. I attached the gadget with part of my robot body parts. The turning mechanism of my gadget went smoothly and the color containers slightly drop down a bit for me to use the brushes to take the colour which mixed with glow powder.
IDEA JOURNAL 3
During the research about mechanism, I learnt a lot of new knowledge about mechanism especially when I found out that mechanism could be diy by just using normal A4 paper, it caught my interest to discover more and more.
The mechanism that I chosen must suit the gadget that I was going to make. I need to find the most effective solution to achieve the functionality - the superpower that I chose.
Throughout this project, I found out that the thinking process can take place at anywhere. As I was focusing to find the best method to build my gadget, I never stop thinking of ways to make it, even when I am eating or showering.
