Landscape Proposal for Park Visitor Centre with Orthographic Drawings
INTRODUCTION
This is an individual assignment which require students to draw the furniture layout of a park visitor center and plan the arrangement of furniture for each space. Students are given an existing layout to follow. Students are not allowed to change the structure of the layout but to plan the furniture arrangement only.
THE INTERIM
We are required to arrange the furniture in the existing layout and the furniture, we are suggested to refer to IKEA product catalogue. This is because the furniture are with accurate label and dimension which will ease our drawing process. The scale of the layout plan is 1:50.

My furniture proposal
As I do this project, I enjoyed the process of choosing furniture as I can see variety design throughout the project. I also learnt about the basic measurement of chairs, doors, tables, windows etc.
We submit the furniture proposal with the furniture paste around the plan to ease us to refer easily. The furniture image and layout plan need to labelled with dimensions in mm.

Final furniture layout plan

It is important to choose the appropriate furniture in a given space by considering on the dimensions and heights of the furniture and we have to visualize in our mind the furniture arrangement. The inventory checklist should be neat, arranged and understandable.
THE PROCESS
Through this project, we will understand the scale and size of the furniture and to translate this information as orthographic drawings. Students will also learned about the basic dimensions of architectural elements. It also trained us to think of the overall layout, elevation and sections and how you can include the door, window, wall and flooring design
After I discussed with my tutor to decide on the section view and elevation view, I started to do the drawings. I realized that when we doing orthographic drawings, we especially need to be sensible with the walking spaces in the office.
By referring to the structural layout given by our tutor, we will insert the furniture and arranged them according to our previous furniture proposal.

All the drawings must be arranged according to the board composition that our tutor provided. It is indeed a challenging task for us as we need to produce 2 A1 boards in total. The drawings are in the scale of 1:50.
We have to produce
furniture layout plan, 2 sectional elevation (office space), elevation, perspective and 2 detail drawings.
Once we get the furniture layout done, we have to decide on where to cut the office for sectional elevation view and all these drawings need to integrate with constructed landscape elements too.

Perspective draft

The perspective drawing was draw according to one-point perspective.
We have to label the layout with accurate dimensions and the detail drawing that I chose is door knob of my main door.

FINAL PRESENTATION BOARDS

I learned to apply the previous knowledge that I learnt in Project 2 which is line weights, dimensions, annotations and drawing symbols. These are the basic of orthographic drawings and will be very helpful for us during our degree studies.
Workmanship and clarity of drawing is very important and it should be technically done using tools and neat. Hence, it require extra patience from us as previously when I did my normal sketch it does not require so much detail. My patience have been trained through this module and I am very grateful with it.
The board composition was done according to the requirement which is 2 A1 boards and I took almost a week to complete both boards and to my surprise even the writing takes a long time. Consequently, I am more appreciating when looking at other's works as I know how much effort they put in as now I am going through it.
